COVID Links

People continue to die from the virus, including children. It is becoming unfashionable to care, or to take precautions such as social distancing and wearing masks. As of November 2022, COVID remained the third leading cause of death in the United States, behind heart disease and cancer (source).

Since the emergency status of COVID-19 is waning, it is worth musing over the reasons behind that choice. The first reason, of course, is the number of people who are tired of hearing about it and want it to go away. The obvious corollary to that is the number of politicians who don’t want to be associated with a continuing emergency which reflects badly on them. However, it remains part of our reality and is likely to end up with annual “booster” shots, much like the flu. Then there are the drug companies, who would like to sell their products without being hampered by price limitations or free distribution of products. That probably covers the primary “logic”.

The links formerly featured on the Trinidays Home Page have been moved here. The data on which they are based is deteriorating over time – see the above reasons. However, the links will remain available for some time to come, just for the sake of completeness.
